Entering the Tare on the Mobile App

To enter the Tare on the mobile app tap the Gas Weight icon on the left of the screen once and immediately double tap the Caravan Pilot Title line.

Setting Up the Tare

After tapping the Gas icon on the left of the screen immediately double tap the Caravan Pilot Title line.

A slide control will appear showing the last value of this setting that has been entered. Move the slider to the correct value (max 20 Kgs) as stamped on the gas cylinder, and tap the Title line again to Save.

The Gas button will now display the measured weight of the cylinder with the Tare subtracted. The Saved value will endure until changed.

Installing the Gas Cylinder Load Cell

The load cell is permanently placed under the centre of the gas cylinder such that the centre of the bowl rests on the load button of the load cell at all times. If the gas cylinder is able to move around it must be restrained from doing so. If the gas cylinder is held in a clamp the clamp must be loosened sufficiently that the entire weight of the gas cylinder rests on the raised button of the load cell.

Thde A/D converter, which is housed in a plastic enclosure a half a metre from the load cell should be mounted on a wall where it will not be damaged using the mounting tape supplied. From the A/D converter there is a 4 metre cable terminated in a 4-pin XLR plug which plugs into a socket on the control unit housing. The socket is clearly marked 'Gas'.

First Use

After installation the load cell must be calibrated to zero, even if it already reads '0'. This is done by double tapping the Gas button on the screen of the mobile phone when there is no weight on the load cell. The phone will buzz briefly and the weight display will go to 0 Kgs, if it is not already doing so. The updated weight info can take several seconds to be shown.
